1. China's first lunar rover named Jade Rabbit landed on Moon
The first lunar rover, Jade Rabbit of China carried by an unmanned remotely piloted spacecraft Chang'e-3 was deployed successfully on moon.

2. Egypt: National referendum on new draft of Constitution to take place on 14-15 January
Adly Mansour has announced 14-15 January 2014 as the date for national referendum on the new draft of the constitution.

3. Dubai International Film Festival: Irrfan Khan won best actor award
Irfan Khan has won the best actor award for his brilliant performance in his film The Lunchbox at the 10th edition of Dubai International Film Festival.

4. Shivraj Singh Chouhan was sworn in as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister for third consecutive term yesterday, after leading BJP to a spectacular hat-trick in Assembly elections. He was administered the oath of office by Governor Ram Naresh Yadav. Senior BJP leaders including Narendra Modi, party chief Rajnath Singh, veteran L K Advani and senior leaders of its allies Shiv Sena and Shiromani Akali Dal attended the swearing in ceremony.

5. Lal Thanhawla was sworn in as Chief Minister of Mizoram by Governor Vakkom Purushothaman at the Raj Bhavan in Aizawl yesterday.  This is Mr. Thanhawla’s second consecutive term and the fifth overall term as chief minister.

6. The Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra passed the much-awaited Anti-Superstition Bill on 13th December. The Bill seeks to curb black magic and other inhuman practices arising out of superstition. It came after four months of the murder of the noted rationalist Dr. Narendra Dabholkar on in August this year in Pune, who fought for such a law for more than for one and a half decade. State Government of Maharashtra also has adopted an Anti-Black Magic and Superstition Ordinance in August this year just after his murder.

7. C.V.R. Rajendran has been appointed as the new Chairman and Managing Director in C.V.R. Rajendran of Andhra Bank. Before that Rajendran was executive director at Bank of Maharashtra. He will be Chairman and Managing Director of Andhra Bank for a period of five years or until superannuation, whichever is earlier.

8. Union Labour Minister, Sis Ram Ola died
Sis Ram Ola, the Union Labour Minister died after a prolonged illness in Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon, Haryana.

9. The Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India met in Kolkata
The Central Board of Reserve Bank met at Kolkata and was chaired by the Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Raghuram G. Rajan.

10. India defeated Pakistan by 48-39 in the World Kabaddi Cup final to retain the title for fourth consecutive time yesterday at Guru Nanak Dev Stadium in Ludhiana, Punjab. Hardavinder Singh Dulla and Balbir Singh from India were named as the Best Raider and Best Stopper of the tournament, respectively.

11. Indian junior hockey team finished at 10th in Hero Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup played at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi today. Pakistan defeated host India by 4-2 in the one-on-one penalty shoot-out after both the teams were locked at 1-1 at the regulation time. Pakistan finished ninth after beating India in the world cup tournament.

12. Indian Judokas won Silver and 4 bronze medals in Asian Youth & Junior Championships
Indian Judokas won silver and four bronze medals in the Asian Youth and Junior Championships, which concluded in Hainan, China.

13. India retained the Kabaddi World Cup for fourth consecutive time
India defeated Pakistan, 48-39 in the Kabaddi World Cup in the final played at Guru Nanak Dev Stadium in Ludhiana, Punjab.

14. Former footballer, Babul Phukan died in Guwahati
Babul Phukan, the former footballer of India, died at a hospital in Guwahati after a prolong illness. He is survived by his wife and a minor daughter
